Striped Sequins

It’s New Year’s Eve and I’m sure you all have been spending weeks perfecting every piece of sparkle that you will be wearing tonight. However, if you have waited until the last minute to pick out a glittering ensemble or are not happy with what you chose weeks ago, don’t fear.

While the mall is waaay too crowded to step my size 9 feet in, and with the massive amount middle schoolers running around because of winter break, I decided to do a little shopping in my mom’s closet.

I came across this sparkly, striped shirt and I decided that it was the perfect piece to wear to ring in 2012!

This Balmain dress is sparkly, scrumptious, and striped like my vinty piece!

The other night Lina and I were invited to a vendor event, which obviously called for a fabulous outfit. Not too hot out, not too cold, it was just right (like that porridge girl said).

I saw something glimmering in the jackets section of my closet and remembered that I had bought this AH-MAY-ZING vintage sequin bolero jacket from Artifaktori in Somerville, Ma a few months back!

This vintage sequin Etsey top is DELISH! Not sure about the butterfly though…a little to Mariah Carey-ish.

This vintage bolero looks just like my sweet dream!

Of course, Ashley Olsen would rep a vintage sequin dress. Quite hippie-esque…in a good way.

Do you love to go vintage shopping? Have any great sequin pieces? Tell us about them!

When Carolyn and Lina approached me about writing a guest post on their blog, I was super excited as I immediately knew one ‘hidden gem’ of a store I’d love share with readers.

Cadillac’s Castle is a small boutique in the East Village, New York City. Selling both new and worn designer clothes at a discount of around ½ to one third of the original price along with vintage and consignment pieces, you can find some fabulous gems in this place.

Its proximity to my apartment makes it a dangerous place to know, but on the other hand I love to browse the shelves and racks of the boutique just to find inspiration as much as I love making a bargain purchase. The owners of Cadillac’s Castle greet me with a warm welcome every time I visit their boutique. The last time I was there I spied a gorgeous pink Prada dress, some Rag and Bone boots and a white Balenciaga top all in my size. Other labels I regularly come across are Stella McCartney, Yigal Azrouel and DvF. If you’re lucky however, you might find a Valentino skirt or some Miu Miu heels just crying out for a new home…

My favourite purchase from this store has been my long sleeved black DKNY dress, bought for $150. I’ve worn it countless times and it’s perfect for Fall in NYC. The boutique also sells some wonderful costume jewellery and designer handbags.
