SEE-quin You in the New Year!

It’s New Years Eve and you know what that means? Yes, it means fun parties and a smooch at midnight, but it also means a stress-filled day of asking the question, “WHAT DO I WEAR TONIGHT!!??”. Well I have got the answer for you! For those of you that are living in New England, you were clearly victim to the copious amounts of snow Mother Nature so thoughtfully gave us last weekend. And going out on the town tonight may be a bit chilly. I have found the perfect statement piece that will keep you toasty and stylish. A sequin cardigan.

I was shopping the racks at TJ’s earlier this week, when I came across a gem I had been eye-balling for literally 3 months. A Robert Rodriguez emerald green, sequin cardigan. I saw it in the “Off the Runway” section at TJ’s months ago and it was a somewhat steep price. I had to talk myself out of this $120 gem because I knew Christmas was coming and perhaps I would ask for it then. Went back a few weeks later, my gem was no where to be found….until earlier this week. Perusing the clearance rack with Nana and my sister, I saw the R.Rodriguez gem hanging there. The best part is, there was a magical red sticker covering the purple price tag. Naturally, I let out a scream of excitement.

Pair this cardigan with a scoop neck, fitted black tank, some tight black skinny jeans, knee high black boots (in case you need to walk through any snow) or black pumps, and top off your look with either a chunky, sparkly necklace or sparkly silver, dangle earrings. Remember it’s NYE, so their is never too much sparkle on this night!

The Blizzard of 2010 hit the East Coast hard! So what did you wear to keep warm when the weather outside was frightful? Every girl in New England needs a ski jacket for these snowy winter months. I got mine at where else? TJ Maxx!

Of course this also came on my trip to Switzerland. I needed an alternative jacket to the faux black fur coat I recently posted about.This one is perfect for any cold weather day. It is a coco-chocolate brown ski jacket that extends just under the knee. It is great for blocking the wind and keeping you nice and toasty. It has two deep pockets with snap buttons in the front. It also has a soft fur trim on the hood that adds a touch of luxury.

Not a fur loving fashionista? No problem its removable! Another great feature is the removable belt. It adds a little touch of femininity. Some long coats can look frumpy, but the belt is perfect to synch the waist and show some curve.

Another great feature of this jacket is that it zips from the waist up, then buttons from the top to the bottom. So you ask what’s so great about that? Have you ever driven or skied in a full zip ski coat? Its almost impossible to move properly! For skiing, it allows you to bend your knees and for driving, it allows you to get in and out of the vehicle with ease.

Off the Cuff

Keeping up with this fur trend, I recently came across the best stocking stuffer gift! FUR CUFFS! Yes, cuffs. Like a bracelet! They snap onto your wrist like one of those slap bracelets Zack Morris and his Bayside crew used to wear in the 90′s. But don’t worry, these fur cuffs aren’t old school.

Last Sunday, Lina and I were in need of a TJ’s run so I called her up at 8am to see if she was awake and looking to go gem hunting. Sure enough she was at my house by 8:30am ready to go. We waited at the door until 9am when they finally let us in. As we were perusing the racks of goods, we came across these magical fur cuffs. These cuffs are small enough, they can fit into your purse and throughout the day if you get bored of looking at your bare sweater or jacket, snap these babies on for a whole different look! Instant glam.

My cuffs are by Dena and are eggplant purple and look so amazing paired with a long black peacoat, a gray sweater, or even…get ready, a cowl neck, yellow mid length coat! Also, check out the eggplant earmuffs (by Sorell) that I got from Marshall’s only a few days after my cuffs purchase!
